IRL – Life Together (“IRL”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the IRL mobile application.
Information stored on your device
Most information entered into IRL is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers or third parties. This may include your name and preferences, planner tasks and calendar plans, exams and study topics, journal entries and reflections, goals and progress notes, financial transactions, budgets and savings goals, and other app settings.
This locally stored information is used only to provide the app’s features on your device.
AI-powered features
IRL includes optional AI-powered functionality.
When you use AI meal suggestions, limited information such as the selected meal type and dietary preference may be transmitted to our backend and processed through Emergent's infrastructure and OpenAI in order to generate the requested suggestion.
When you use the AI exam revision planner, the exam title you enter and the number of days available may be transmitted to our backend and processed through Emergent's infrastructure and OpenAI solely to generate your revision plan.
IRL does not transmit your name, journal entries, financial information, planner tasks, or other unrelated personal information to the AI service as part of these requests.
Profile photos
If you choose to add a profile photo, the image you select may be uploaded and stored using Emergent Object Storage. A reference to the uploaded image is stored by the app.
Adding a profile photo is optional.
Camera and Photo Library
IRL may request access to your camera or photo library if you choose to add or change your profile photo. These permissions are only used for this functionality.
Notifications
IRL may use local notifications for features such as task, quote, study, or exam reminders. These notifications are scheduled on your device. IRL does not collect push notification tokens for these local notifications.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
IRL does not currently use advertising SDKs or analytics or tracking technologies. We do not collect advertising identifiers or device identifiers for tracking purposes, and we do not use your information for cross-app or cross-website tracking.
Accounts
IRL does not currently require users to create an account. We do not collect an email address or password for account creation.
Third-party services
Certain optional features may involve third-party service providers, including OpenAI for AI-generated functionality and Emergent infrastructure for backend processing and storage.
These providers may process limited information only when necessary to provide the relevant functionality.
Data retention and deletion
Most IRL data is stored locally on your device and can be removed through the app where applicable or by deleting the app.
Profile photos uploaded to external storage may remain on our storage infrastructure. If you would like to request deletion of an uploaded profile photo or have a privacy-related question, please contact us using the information below.
Children’s privacy
IRL is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe information has been provided inappropriately, please contact us.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as IRL develops. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
